Over the years, many people have asked:
"Why the No Fun Zone?"
What started as a tongue and cheek brand and stage name found its philosophical home in the artists' perspectives. The way our work steers the direction of our lives is balanced with commodification of our passions, and heavily seasoned with a stubborn commitment to self expression despite the challenges we might face along the way.
The No Fun Zone is not an exclusive place. We have incorporated dozens of artists and collaborations over the years. Every artist knows what it means to be in the No Fun Zone, whether it's a creative block, struggling with visibility, or balancing the weight of the world on your shoulders while trying to stay true to your creative passions. Here we are naming the thing we all experience. We are owning it, and carrying on regardless.
No Fun Zone is as much of an artist collective as it is the independent and collaborative ventures of Tom and Kayleigh. They have been travelling and making a life together in art for 15 years. They currently share a wood carving and painting studio on Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw territory in the northern gulf (Quadra Island, BC)
